New nationwide 24-hour strike will perform tomorrow Friday March 3rd, its employees Panhellenic Federation of Railways & Fixed Track Vehiclesafter the tragic train accident in Tempe.

In their announcement they state: “The Panhellenic Federation of Railways & Fixed Track Vehicles, after the tragic accident in Tempi, held an emergency meeting this morning together with the Unions – Members and employees. Taking into account the proposals submitted, the following decisions were taken at the extraordinary Bureau that followed:

Tomorrow, 03/03/2023, the TRAINOSE Staff Union, the Panhellenic TRAINOSE Staff Union and the Panhellenic Traction Staff Union (Unions whose staff work for Hellenic Train) will go on a 24-hour nationwide strike.

The Federation, based on its letters that have been sent to competent bodies (Ministries, Administrations, Political Parties) in all previous years, will draw up a memorandum with all the issues concerning the Railway and will request an IMMEDIATE meeting with the Ministry of Transport and the Political Parties ( by next week at the latest).

The meetings will restate the views of the trade union movement on Rail and traffic safety, DEMANDING a clear timetable for their implementation to avoid any future occurrence.

Immediately after the meetings and taking into account the results of the discussions, the Board of Directors will meet in order to take the corresponding decisions (without excluding the escalation of the mobilizations, in case the results are not considered positive).

After the completion of the above, a Press Conference will be held, in order to inform the entire Greek Society, the entire Railway world about all that the Federation has been sounding the alarm for safety for so many years, but it was never seriously listened to.”
