The Association of Tram Conductors with his announcement he complains that Telematics, signaling systems, Operation Control Center, are either under-functioning or not functioning at all. “With problematic trains and workers exhausted from the continuous routes, we are trying to complete a transportation project, with the minimum permissible safety limits” mentions and calls “the government officials to provide a solution to the chronic problems of the TRAM line».

THE STOP in its announcement it states that the Tram moves at a low speed on the road, observing the KOK and the traffic signal system and traffic and the check is done exclusively by the conductor. At the same time, he emphasizes that no comparison can be made with other means of fixed track and adds that the role of the telematics system in the Tram is to give priority to the vehicles, to inform the operation center about the position of the vehicles and to inform the passengers about the arrival time of trains. Regarding the existence of problems, STASY claims that “when technical issues arise, they are repaired immediately, following also in this case the applicable procedures and safety regulations».

The entire announcement of the STASY Administration is as follows:

Tram is a means of fixed-track transport, which coexists in the road network of cities with moving vehicles and pedestrians. As a road vehicle, the speeds it develops are low and it moves, observing the KOK and the road traffic signaling system. Its movement and control is done exclusively by the electric driver, through the visual contact he has with the road. For this reason, no comparison can be made with other means of fixed orbit.

A telematics system is installed and operating in the Tram network, connected to the road traffic system, which gives priority to the Tram and informs the Control Center of the exact position of the vehicles. The system also informs the passenger during his stay at the stop about the train arrival and waiting times. In cases of technical malfunctions of the system, the Operation Protocol provides for specific procedures, which are followed by the well-trained and experienced STASY conductors.

The communication of the conductors with the Control Center is continuous and uninterrupted throughout the route, through a modern communication system (tetra). At the Tram Control Center, a monitoring system for all vehicles moving on the network is installed and operating in real time, with the track and position of each vehicle updated every 20 seconds. When technical issues arise, they are fixed immediately, following also in this case the applicable procedures and safety regulations.

With the supply and operation of 25 modern new Tram vehicles from December 2021, malfunctions in the telematics system have been minimized. We underline that this particular system works as an auxiliary and does not concern the safe movement of passengers».
