Vaia took the train from Larissa on Tuesday night to go to Thessaloniki, from where she would take the plane to travel to America.
Immersed in mourning is Tyrnavos who is currently saying the “last goodbye” to 42-year-old Vaia Bleka – Karakosta, in the Holy Church of Panagia Faneromeni.
Friends and relatives are devastated, while her colleagues at the General State Hospital of Larissa speak of the nurse with the best words.
Vaia’s tragic story is that her family, her husband and children, live in America. She worked non-stop, in order to manage to collect days off and be able to visit them.

Her husband and children came from America to Tyrnavos for the funeral.
Vaia left behind her husband, Georgios Karakostas and children Athanasia, Lefteri.
By decision of the Trade Association of Tyrnavos and as a minimal sign of mourning and support for the families of the victims of the tragedy in Tempe, it is suggested to the members of the association and to all the professionals of the city to close their shops at 12.00 pm, the time the funeral of the deceased 42-year-old Vaia Bleka – Karakosta is held.
Shops will remain closed until the ceremony is over, while at the same time restaurants will turn off the music.
