A twenty-four-hour strike for the Tempe tragedy is announced on Wednesday Athens Labor Center (EKA), and calls on all its member unions to participate en masse in the gatherings (1:00 p.m. in Syntagma Square).

With its announcement, the Athens Labor Center welcomes the tens of thousands of workers and youth who took part in the great Pallaic rally in Syntagma Square. “We are escalating our struggle, so that the real responsibilities are assigned, that the murderous crime of Tempe does not pass into oblivion, so that the anti-popular policy, which puts the protection of human life in the balance of costs, is uprooted. We strengthen the fight for the protection of human life, for modern and safe mass transport, against the policy that turns transport from a social good into a commodity, for health and safety measures in all workplaces”, points out the Athens Labor Center.

As he adds, “we claim and fight for the immediate adoption of safety measures on all fixed-track lines of the nationwide and urban railway network (OSE-STASY-TRAM), as well as on all urban passenger transport networks (OASA, OSY, OASTH, etc.) , by implementing security systems, regardless of the cost to businesses. The immediate consultation with the representatives of the workers for the implementation of health and safety policies in all workplaces, so that we do not witness a similar national tragedy in the future.

No cover-up and exemplary punishment of the political figures who bear responsibility” notes the Athens Labor Center in its announcement.
