Establishing twelve scholarshipsthe same number as the students who lost their lives in the tragic Tempe train crash, will propose the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) at the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY).

The request on behalf of AUTH will be to give twelve scholarships, as many as the children who were lost. Regardless of which school they came from, they are all students of AUTH”, said the vice-rector of Academic Affairs and Student Affairs, professor of the Department of Agriculture, Dimitris Kovaios, in an interview on the radio station of APE – MPE “Agency 104.9Fm”.

He added that today in the auditoriums of the Schools, classes are held with particular difficulty and the atmosphere remains very heavy, while he mentioned that in memory of the deceased students, a memorial service will be held in the Holy Metropolis of Thessaloniki and a monument will be created inside the AUTH “for never to be forgotten”.

Mr. Kovaios also referred to the free psychological support services from the Counseling and Psychological Support Center (tel. 2310 999888), which are provided on the initiative of the university, to students, staff and also to the families of the victims and the injured of the accident in Tempi.

Several students have so far sought psychological support. Many children were not on the train but were friends with the students who were lost. Others were on the train and were either slightly injured or not at all, but still need support. And for us teachers, however, it is useful, because we had these children every day in the lessons, with our concerns, disagreements, oppositions and there is a big gap“, he characteristically said.
