Serious and extensive incidents occurred late Tuesday night in the center of Volos after the march for the accident in Tempi, organized by students, anarchist and extra-parliamentary collectives.

The incidents started a little after 9 pm, outside the train station of Volos, when the march ended up in the area while very strong police forces were lined up opposite the train station building. A group of youths with their faces covered attacked the police with stones and Molotov cocktails who started throwing smoke bombs to disperse them.

The incidents also spread to the surrounding streets, up to the buildings of the Student Residence, while the young people blocked 2nd of November Avenue, Iasonos and other streets with burning buckets.

Street fights and chases followed in the central streets of Volos and the groups of anti-authoritarians headed towards the central buildings of the University of Thessaly and locked themselves inside its premises, while a young man was arrested by the police.

Significant damage was also caused to the historic and preserved building of the railway station of Volos, where the young people broke windows and painted the walls of the building with paints and slogans.
