The need for purification at all levels and acceptance of everyone’s responsibilities, without footnotes to the tragedy in Tempe, was underlined today in 100.3 the Minister of Labour Kostis Hatzidakis.

Shadows cannot remain, everything must be investigated, emphasized Mr. Hatzidakis, adding that there must be punishment for those responsible, whoever they are.

We should not hesitate to make layoffs, he said characteristically.

He pointed out that the world demands that there be no distortions, that we not make the tragedy worse with myths that will obscure the situation.

Referring to the period in which he was responsible for the OSE, he recalled that in September 2008, the opening of the section between Thessaloniki and Larissa with electrification and remote control took place.

He pointed out that in 2012 the remote control was largely destroyed due to vandalism and the government turned to the Commission, and after negotiations the European Commission agreed to finance it again in June 2013.

He pointed out that under Michalis Chrysochoidis, contract 717 was signed for upgrading, but then it remained in the air.

“In 2018 I asked Mr. Spirtzis a question about the remote control, he said that an upgrade would have been made by 2019, however it was not done” added Mr. Hatzidakis.
