Over 2,000 Lamia residents flooded the city center with a central slogan: “Tears dried up and became rage, the new generation does not forgive you”
A particularly large protest rally was organized by the student associations in Lamia and over 2,000 people literally flooded the city center. “The tears dried up and became rage, the new generation does not forgive you” was the central slogan, while at the same time banners and slogans demanded that there be no covering up of responsibility for the human lives that were unjustly lost.
It is characteristic that it is the 3rd mobilization in the last days in the city of Lamia and one of the most massive in the last 20 years, a fact that shows that the tragedy in Tempi has touched all of them, the students and pupils of the area and together with the social organizations organize and participate in these mobilizations.
Today at 12 noon, students, pupils, teachers, workers, railway workers and pensioners, as well as workers’ organizations and the two Labor Centers, were found in Lamia’s Park Square.
Initially it was defined as a protest gathering in the context of today’s strike, but very quickly it turned into a protest about the Tempe tragedy and actually the slogans related to this particular tragedy became dominant.
The gathered then organized a particularly long march that similarly dates back to the 90s, after following central streets, they passed through almost all the squares of Lamia, demonstrating in the same way their will to continue their mobilizations until measures are taken.
“Inside that train were our fellow students, our classmates, they were our parents. Any of us could be in their shoes. We will continue to hit the road. We are not going to let this crime happen again” the student representatives emphasize during the speeches in the central Square of Lamia.
Occupancy in many schools
In addition, the students of Lamia are organizing a new gathering in the same square at 6 pm today for the tragic accident in Tempe, while since the morning, five high schools of Lamia are in symbolic occupation. These are the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th General Lyceum, while since yesterday the Gymnasium with High School classes in the Neo Monastery of Domokos is also occupied.
