Two Chaniotes were arrested on Friday by men from the Kissamos Police Department, who according to the case file were deceiving citizens who wanted to buy used cars.

Overall they were cheated 6 citizens who fell into the “clamp” of the two arrested.

According to information, two men aged 62 and 46, under the pretext of importing and trading used vehicles from abroadthey identified prospective buyers and received sums of money as an advance without, however, delivering the vehicles to them.

Yes, in order to convince their buyers presented various supporting documents of the vehicles (circulation license, etc.) and judicial decisions to lift the seizure of vehicles with foreign license plates, while various objective difficulties were alleged for the delay in receiving the vehicles.

After the complaints, the police officers proceeded to an organized operation, where they immediately arrested the 62-year-old Haniotis while he was taking the pre-marked amount of money 500 euros from sufferers to cover the transport costs of a vehicle that was allegedly at Heraklion Customs.

Then the second one was also located and in a search made in their common house, they were also found were confiscated cell phones and documents related to the case.

As it emerged from the preliminary investigation, the perpetrators, using forged documents, during the period from 15.02.2023 to 10.03.2023, had defrauded six Chanians, extracting from them a total of 10,240 euros.

Also at the expense of the 46-year-old an arrest warrant was pending 25th Regular Investigative Department of the Court of First Instance of Athens for distinguished cases of theft.
