The two unions announced a 24-hour strike over the Tempe tragedy
A pan-Hellenic strike was announced on Thursday, March 16, by the two trade union bodies GSEE and ADEDY, with a basic demand for accountability for the tragic accident in Tempi.
Its Executive Committee A.D.E.D.Y.in accordance with the authorization received from the General Council, decided to declare a 24-hour Pan-Hellenic strike mobilization for Thursday, March 16.
As stated in a statement by ADEDY, “uniting the voice of civil servants with that of workers in the private sector to demand with the general general strike:
- To bring to the surface the real culprits of the crime of Tempe and to attribute the responsibilities to the culprits.
- To stop the policy of privatization, commercialization and the operation of public services with private economic criteria, to stop treating the protection of work and life as a cost”.
Also, in the same announcement, ADEDY emphasizes: “The crime of Tempe will not be covered up. We claim the life we ​​deserve, life with modern rights, a better future for us and our children.”
Similar decision adopted unanimously at its 38th Congress GSEE. In its resolution, the confederation states that it says “no to impunity” and accepts the framework of demands of the Panhellenic Railway Federation.
