OPKE policemen arrested a robber next to the house of a top government minister in Spata.

The police officers were on duty on Friday afternoon (10/3) at the minister’s house when they noticed a suspicious vehicle in close proximity to the minister’s house and decided to check it.

A 63-year-old man was riding in the car, in whose possession 24 counterfeit 500 euro banknotes were found, as a result of which he was arrested at the scene.

It was then established that the arrested person was a fugitive as he had a pending conviction for attempted robbery.

He tried to rob an elderly man

In particular, the 63-year-old had broken a house lock and had broken into the home of an elderly man in Spata, whom he tried to silence with insulating tape in order to grab money from him.

Finally he failed, hit him on the head with a stick and ran away.

After the arrest of the 63-year-old Greek by OPKE men, a case was filed against him for circulation of counterfeit coins.
