On the Kozani – Larissa National Highway, 15 kilometers southeast of Kozani and 7 kilometers northwest of Servia, is one of the longest – and most… idyllic – bridges in Greece, the High Bridge of Servia.

The 1,372-meter-long bridge passes over the artificial lake of Polyphytos on the Aliakmonas river, and the images from above are reminiscent of a movie set, somewhere abroad.

The bridge was built in the 1970s, at the same time as the creation of the artificial lake of Polyphytos, and was first opened to traffic in 1975.

It is the second longest bridge in Greece, with the Rio-Antirio bridge being the first.

Next to the bridge and the headquarters of the Kozani Maritime Club, a marina has been created, while the view from the village of Neraida Kozani, whose hotels, taverns and cafes, are a favorite place of recreation for locals and visitors alike, is wonderful.

Today, the bridge faces many stability problems accumulated over the years and a prosecutor has intervened for its safety.
