More specifically, the ministry’s announcement states:
“In a report of the newspaper “Kathimerini”, photos are published showing the condition of the stations delivered in 2019, with the change of government, in relation to the current situation.
It appears, with unwavering conviction, that a disintegrated situation was received which continues to be rapidly reassembled. Unfortunately, the tragic accident occurred before the completion of the works expected at the end of September with full remote control of the entire main shaft.
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, with a sense of responsibility towards the citizens, will continue the effort to bring to light the causes and circumstances of the tragic accident, to restart the railway safely and to complete the upgrade of the safety systems of the network in the stipulated time” .
