After the testimony of the 20-year-old, who was in Alki’s company on the fateful night, three requests submitted by the defendants’ defense were discussed during the hearing.
The cycle of the examination of prosecution witnesses in the trial for the murder of 19-year-old Alkis Kampanos and the attempted murder of his two friends closed today before the Mixed Jury Court of Thessaloniki.
After the testimony of the 20-year-old, who was in Alki’s company on the fateful night, three requests submitted by the defendants’ defense were discussed during the hearing.
These concerned the calling of police witnesses from the Sports Violence Department, the search for residents-witnesses around the crime scene and the removal of confidentiality by the Viber company for the contact that sent the video to the president of AS Aris, Lefteris Arvanitis.
The court rejected all three requests, while earlier the prosecutor’s proposal was also rejected, which emphasized that “there is a lot of evidence that will help us uncover the truth”.
In particular, regarding the request to call the police officers of the Sports Violence Department for a statement, he noted that they did not proceed with any pre-investigation procedure, while regarding the residents of the surrounding area, he said that “anyone who wanted to speak would do so, anyone who knew something would say it first days. It’s an area that’s been hit by fan attacks and they’re literally fed up.” Finally, he mentioned that Viber’s policy is to never give out information.
The trial will continue on Monday with the documents being read and then it is the turn of the defense witnesses in the case.
