The 57-year-old stabbed the unfortunate woman several times in the abdomen while his children and young grandson were at home
The descriptions of relatives of misfortune 45-year-old nurse of the Larissa University Hospital who died tragically, having been stabbed by her 57-year-old husband, dominated yesterday in Mixed Court of Appeal (MOE) Larisa, where repeated in the second degree the homicide that took place in the early afternoon of May 21, 2018 in Megalochori Trikala.
When the 57-year-old defendant carried out the threats, which he had been saying he would do for a long time – as reported yesterday – with a meat-cutting knife (which was not justified for domestic use) and in the bedroom of the house he inflicted several blows on the 45-year-old woman of him, wounds which “caused serious injuries to the chest and abdomen, the result of which was the death” of the nurse, as noted in the indictment.
A homicide which happened while there were small children in the house, including the defendant’s grandson, who, as reported yesterday in court, fled to the neighbors, saying that “the grandfather stabbed the grandmother”.
The 57-year-old, having sentenced to life imprisonment at first instancesat yesterday in the court of the MoE, accused of manslaughter by intent in a calm state of mind, illegal carrying of weapons and use of weapons, with the accused at the beginning of the trial confessing that he committed the crime.
The charge was brought by the district attorney, Stam. Daskalopoulos, noting that the accused in a calm state of mind attacked his wife in the bedroom, where with a meat cutting knife with a blade length of 17 centimeters and a total length of 31 centimeters, he managed to stab her multiple times in different parts of her body. Causing, among other things, severe chest and abdominal injuries, the result of which was to cause the death of the 45-year-old.
A Trikala policeman testified that he found the accused in the village stadium, who – having earlier “washed his hands” – stated that “we had a fight and I slaughtered her”.
The 45-year-old mother in her testimony she emphasized that at the time of the crime “the children were inside the house” and that “the children took it to the neighbor”. She also described her son-in-law as a particularly violent husband, adding that her daughter had “complained several times to the Trikala Police Station about her beatings”.
“She didn’t divorce him because she was afraid of him,” emphasized the nurse’s mother, clarifying that “the day before the murder” the security measures had been determined, in order for the 45-year-old to be able to remove her husband from their home.
In fact, it was said that on the occasion of the insurance, the accused started to transfer things to his father’s house, but on the day of his name day, he stabbed his wife. “She has been telling us strongly lately, that I will kill her…” the victim’s daughter emphasized in her testimony, conveying her father’s threats. “She didn’t file for divorce because a feeling of phobia had been created for years and my mother couldn’t get out of this mold of fear,” said the daughter, explaining why, despite the incidents of violence described in court, the 45-year-old did not leave the 57-year-old .
With the daughter to finally convey to the MOE that her child and grandson of the perpetrator, described what he saw, as he was at home at the time of the crime, saying characteristically that “the grandson saw the grandfather stabbing the grandmother”. Finally, the father of the perpetrator in his testimony emphasized, among other things, that “my son was the real victim”. The trial was adjourned to continue on April 3 with the testimony of other witnesses.
