This is the center where an 11-year-old boy was acrobating on a window ledge – three stories off the ground – last Tuesday
The managers of the “Center for Special Treatments” have been targeted by a prosecutor’s investigation in Kallithea, which was sealed by order of the Attica Region after the publication of a photo showing an 11-year-old boy walking on a third-floor window sill. By his order, the head of the First Instance Prosecutor’s Office, Antonis Eleftherianos, ordered a preliminary investigation to be carried out in the context of which it will be investigated whether the persons in charge of the Center for the Disabled have committed criminal acts such as exposure to danger and bodily harm to a vulnerable person.
The Prosecutor intervened after the publication on the website enikos.gr of the complaint of the bus driver Manolis Koufakis who had worked for a quarter at the Center. The driver stated that he was an eyewitness to incidents of child abuse, by the staff and the owner of the Center in blows but also derogatory attitudes against PWDs who were daily transported to the Center from morning to night for creative employment programs. After an autopsy and an audit that was carried out, it turned out that the company’s facilities did not meet the specifications while at the same time it was misleadingly using the term Treatment Center. The Center served 48 children and young people between the ages of 4 and 24.
