Started from Thursday March 23, 2023 the operation of the “Panic Button” program (panic button) to Attica and Thessalonikiwith the aim of dealing with incidents of domestic violence.

It’s about digital application which is provided free of charge to female victims of domestic violence, who after installing it on a smart technology mobile phone (smartphones) have the ability immediate and secure notification of the Greek Police in cases of domestic violence, associated with a threat or danger to life or physical integrity.

Specifically, the victim, by pressing and holding the corresponding indicator on the mobile phone screen, activates the application and a text message (sms) is automatically sent to the Immediate Action Operations Center, which includes the necessary information to locate him.

The application is sponsored by the Police Departments, the Domestic Violence Offices of Attica and Thessaloniki, as well as the counseling centers of the Network of Structures of the General Secretariat of Demographic and Family Policy and Gender Equality of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs located in the Region of Attica and the Regional Thessaloniki unit.

Next, in order to complete the registration process, the beneficiary is required to complete:

-Numeric Code

-Social Security Number (SIN)

-Full name

-Mobile phone number

– Residential address and floor

-Name written on the doorbell of the residence

-History of abuse incidents

– Evidence of possession of a weapon by the perpetrator

– Evidence of the existence of children and pregnancy of the victim

– Evidence of a history of substance addictions, as well as psychological disorders of the abuser.
