Hello Kitty, a famous character from Japanese culture, will be the theme of a new restaurant in Liberdade, in the central district of São Paulo. The themed space will have 2D decor, with all walls, furniture and objects painted in black and white — which creates an optical illusion.

The menu will be dedicated to Asian cuisine, with hot dishes like ramen, yakisoba and bibimpab, and cold dishes, like sushi and sashimi. The highlight will be the options with wagyu, one of the most expensive meats in the world. Chef Cesar Yukio, from the Hanami confectionery, is responsible for the sweets menu.
The restaurant will be divided into three environments. On the ground floor is the pastry counter. A mezzanine and a second floor house tables and benches. All the decor will be inspired by the kitten and other characters from Sanrio, the company that owns the Hello Kitty brand.
The 2D drawings are being hand-drawn by illustrator Carol Wang, one of the hosts of the Disney show Art Attack.
The grand opening is scheduled for April 12. The new space is part of the Eat Asia chain, which owns three other restaurants inspired by the Japanese character — two in Liberdade and one in Moema.
