Studio SP, which made history on Rua Augusta, will close and become a space for rented parties

Shed number 591 on Rua Augusta, which for years was the headquarters of Studio SP, will become a space for rented parties. These are the plans of Sérgio Oliveira and his partner Daniel Prado, who acquired the property. Both are already ahead of the Kat Klub nightclub, which is next door.

With that, the story of Studio comes to an end, a nightclub that was one of those responsible for giving face to the nightlife scene in the region, in the early 2000s.

“As the owner of the property is the same, he offered it to us. Now, we ended up accepting it”, says Oliveira, who is a businessman, DJ and producer, a well-known figure of the night. He says that the space will initially host one-off parties, with the first taking place this Saturday, the 1st —a matinee, allowed for people under 18, made for fans of singer Taylor Swift.

In the future, the house should gain other touches, with private and open karaoke rooms, a club, a kitchen and a game room. The name of the space will be Augusta Hi-Fi.

Studio SP made a name for itself in Augusta, when it was founded by former Secretary of Culture of São Paulo Alê Youssef, in the mid-2000s, and brought together most of the names of the so-called new Brazilian music. As he told the Sheet, the house would be a “stimulus for new spaces to emerge and also a stage for the renewal of Brazilian music”.

The venue closed in 2013, reopened eight years later, and is now closed again.
