As he announced to the Ministry of the Interior, the granting of the electric boat is to be implemented with the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the Natural Environment and Climate Change Organization (OFYPEKA) and EL.AS.
As it became known, OFYPEKA is proceeding with the acquisition of 40 electric boats for the whole country, through an international tender, implementing the program “Development of a National System for the Permanent Monitoring of Species and Habitat Types”, which is financed with resources amounting to 36 million euros from the Recovery Fund and Durability.
The Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy, Giorgos Amyras, said: “Ioannina is becoming a greener and safer city. Yesterday, in the presence of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, we announced the financing of approximately 1 million euros, for the retrofitting of the ferries that run routes to and from Pamvotida Island, to electric motors. In this way, we transform Ioannina into a green and sustainable port. Today, we announce the granting of an electric boat to EL.AS., putting another shield of protection on the rich ecosystem and the unique biodiversity of the lake”.
For his part, the general regional police director of Epirus, Brigadier General Vassilis Mouselimis, said: “Today’s meeting shows in practice that the best results are achieved with a joint effort of all competent bodies.
