For his choice to leave Greece in order for his granddaughter to “grow up as her mother would have wanted”, he told the Guardian website, the father of 19-year-old Caroline who was murdered by her husband in their own home in Glyka Nera in May 2021.

As he pointed out, this is the last time he talks about it in public and mentioned that he is leaving Greece with his wife and granddaughter to focus on raising little Lydia, “who is now without” any parents.

“My only duty now is to look after her daughter, Lydia, who is now motherless and fatherless, and to ensure that she is raised as her mother would have raised her”said 79-year-old David Crouchs.

“I can only do this in the Philippines, far away from the noxious presence of her father and her paternal grandparents.”

As the article on the Guardian website comments, this family’s decision comes a few weeks after the Crouch family won sole custody of three-year-old Lydia.

Last January, David Crouchs, who has mobility problems and has never appeared in public, told ANT1 that his daughter had been murdered by her husband because of his involvement in drug trafficking.

“Unfortunately, his mother still doesn’t believe her son killed Caroline” he said at the time, explaining why it’s crucial for Lydia to live away from her father’s environment.

His wife Susan Crouch has already moved with little Lydia to Manila, where the little girl is growing up with her cousins, the Guardian points out.
