Traffic for Easter table shopping is expected to increase in the coming days and peak on Holy Saturday.
The market is slowly “heating up” ahead of Easter, with consumers taking “exploratory” walks in butcher shops and in the Varvakeio market recording – for now – the prices for lamb and goat, the traditional food of the Easter table.
According to the report by Kostas Tselikas, five days before Easter the price of lamb and goat in central butchers ranges around 12 euros, while in neighborhood butchers the prices are higher.
Based on these prices, the Easter table for 6-8 people will cost around 370 euros this year.
From Barvakeio market the reporter Anastasia Stathoulis reported that the prices for lamb and goat start from 9.90 euros and reach up to 15 euros. For ribs, the price goes up to 17 euros/kg.
The prices in the large super market chains are lower, according to yesterday’s announcement by the Ministry of Development regarding the Easter Basket:
