Testifying as a defense witness on behalf of two of the 12 defendants (the 9th and 11th), D. Galenderis disagreed with the conclusion of his colleague
With the examination of the medical examiner Dimitris Galenderis, the trial for the murder of the 19-year-old continues for the 24th day before the Mixed Jury Court of Thessaloniki Alki Kampanou and the injury of his two friends, during the ferocious fan attack they received in the early hours of February 1, 2022, in the area of Harilaou.
Testifying as a defense witness on behalf of two of the 12 defendants (the 9th and 11th), Mr. Galenderis disagreed with the conclusion of his colleague Ledas Kovatsis, who, signing the forensic report on the cause of death of the 19-year-old, spoke of a concussion injuries and fatal injuries to the lower extremities.
The witness attributed Alki’s death to the blow to the femoral artery which caused hemorrhagic shock (a similar scientific opinion was expressed by the two previous medical examiners Grigoris Leon and Katerina Apostolidou who were examined as defense witnesses), disconnecting the craniocerebral injuries from the mechanism of death.
“I do not disagree with the findings of Mrs. Kovatsis, but with the conclusion. We can not to have five causes of death. In this case it includes all the injuries to the lower extremities even though she accepts that some were not fatal,” said Mr. Galenderis, insisting that Alki’s death was neither caused nor affected by the blows to the head. He estimated that the specific blows to the head were caused “with hands and feet”, but not with any instruments, because there are no corresponding characteristic prints.
As for the “fatal” wound to the femoral artery, he suggested that it was caused by an instrument such as an iron rod or a knife (of the ice-pick type) or a screwdriver (“gathers less probability”), but ruled out that it was caused by a sickle or karabitte, instruments which, according to the indictment, the two defendants, in whose favor the witness testified. feio
When asked by the civil action how many people hit Alkis based on the total number of injuries he received, Mr. Galenderis expressed his assessment that there were “at least three”.
His examination continues with questions from the defense.
