Seven people were arrested today by the Greek Policeafter inspections carried out in a work area on the island of Mykonos, following a document sent by the Corps of Building Inspectors of the Ministry of Environment and Energy to the competent prosecutor’s office.
As announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairsthen she issued an order to the YDOM of Syros to carry out the controls, during which it was established that new buildings were erected on the site, without the necessary supporting documents.
In particular, according to the Ministry of Environment, from 3/4 to 6/4 and from 10/4 to today, 12/4, checks were carried out by mixed levels of the Ministry of the Interior and the Economic Police throughout Mykonos.
A total of 10 autopsies were carried out resulting from complaints.
During an on-site inspection carried out on 4.4.2023 by a mixed team of the Ministry of Health, at the “Psarou” location of the Municipality of Mykonos, the following were found:
• Construction in progress of a new two-storey building within the protection zone (at a distance of less than 100 m from the coastline, parts of which are located within the coastal zone and the beach zone, without a building permit.
The outline, dimensions, total surface area, internal arrangements and views do not agree with those declared in Registration No. 10366407. Stage of work at the date of inspection: Implementation of plumbing and electrical installations.
• Ground-floor building with WC use within the protection zone and at a distance of less than 100 m from the sea line, whose outline, dimensions, total surface, internal layouts and views do not agree with those declared in the Submission.

According to the detailed announcement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “today Wednesday an autopsy was carried out in the presence of the Syros Prosecutor in the above area, where it was found that work was being carried out without a permit and the self-imposed procedure was initiated.
5 people who were carrying out work were arrested. Also, 2 managers of the business were arrested.
The automatic procedure was carried out immediately, while the materials and machines found in the illegal operations were confiscated. It was ordered to immediately stop the execution of projects, while the case is at the stage of preliminary investigation”.
