ELAS: 4 arrests, 8 suspensions and 477 fines for not using a mask

The controls carried out throughout the country by the Hellenic Police Services for the implementation of the measures to prevent and limit the spread of the coronavirus continue with undiminished intensity.

Yesterday, Friday, January 7, 64,871 checks were carried out throughout the country, of which 25,632 at the Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos”, during which a total of 556 violations were confirmed and 4 arrests were made. At the same time, 9 fines were imposed for violating the anti-smoking law.

Detailed tests and results:

* 477 violations for not using a mask, etc. related infringements and 474 fines of 300 euros and 3 of 150 euros were imposed, as follows:

– 154 in Attica,

– 87 in Thessaloniki,

– 32 in Crete,

– 31 in Epirus,

– 28 in the North Aegean,

– 25 in Western Greece,

– 24 in the Ionian Islands,

– 22 in Thessaly,

– 22 in Central Greece,

– 20 in the Peloponnese,

– 17 in Central Macedonia,

– 7 in Western Macedonia,

6 in the South Aegean and

– 2 in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.

Since the implementation of the new measures (November 7, 2020), a total of 86,244 similar violations have been confirmed and 82,801 administrative fines of 300 euros and 3,443 of 150 euros have been imposed.

* 76 violations and 4 arrests for rules of operation of stores, private companies, etc. violations of the relevant legislation (prohibition of operation, non-use of a mask, percentage of square meter per person, etc.).

In the above cases the following sanctions were imposed for violation of suspension of operation, etc. related infringements of the relevant provisions, namely:

In Thessaly,

– 5,000 euros fine to the owner of a store of health interest, with the imposition of a 15-day suspension of operation, for customer service without the necessary certificates and 1 violation to the customer,

– 2 violations in stores for not posting a sign of the maximum number of people allowed,

– 2 infringements against an equal number of customers for deprivation of the necessary certificates,

– 4 violations of 300 euros, for not using a mask, by employees and shop owner.

In Central Macedonia,

– 5,000 euros fine in a store of health interest, with the imposition of a 15-day suspension of operation, for exceeding the opening hours,

– a fine of 5,000 euros in a store, with the imposition of a 15-day suspension for the use of music,

– 5,000 euros fine in a store, with a 15-day suspension for non-installation of antiseptic,

– 1 violation in a store for not posting a sign of the maximum number of people allowed,

– 17 violations of 300 euros, for non-use of a mask, by owners, employees and customers of stores. Additional 5 violations for not using a mask by a driver and vehicle passengers.

In Eastern Macedonia and Thrace,

– 5,000 euros fine to the owner of a store of health interest, with the imposition of a 15-day suspension of operation, for customer service without the necessary certificates and 1 violation to the customer,

– 1 violation in a store for not posting a sign of the maximum number of people allowed,

– 10 violations of 300 euros, for not using a mask, by customers, employees and shop owner.

In Epirus, 4 violations of 300 euros, for not using a mask, by shop customers.

In Western Macedonia,

– arrest and a fine of 5,000 euros in a responsible store of health interest, with the imposition of a 15-day suspension, for customer service without the necessary certificates and 2 violations to an equal number of customers,

– 2 violations of 300 euros, for not using a mask, by store employees.

In the Peloponnese,

– arrest and a fine of 10,000 euros to the owner and temporary manager of a store of health interest, with the imposition of a 30-day suspension of operation, for violation of opening hours

– 1 violation of 300 euros, for not using a mask, by a store employee.

In Crete, 1 violation of 300 euros, for not using a mask, by a store employee.

In Central Greece,

– arrest and a fine of 5,000 euros to a temporary store manager, with a 15-day suspension, for the use of music,

– 1 violation of 300 euros, for not using a mask, by a store employee. Additional 1 violation for not using a mask by a vehicle passenger.

In Thessaloniki,

– 1 fine in a store, for not posting a sign of operating rules,

– 3 violations of 300 euros, for not using a mask, by shop customers.

In Attica, 2 violations of 300 euros for non-use of a mask by store employees.

In Western Greece, 8 violations of 300 euros, for not using a mask, by shop customers.

In the North Aegean, 1 violation of 300 euros, for not using a mask, by a store customer.

In the Ionian Islands, 4 violations of 300 euros, for not using a mask, by customers and store employees.

Since the implementation of the new measures (November 7, 2020), a total of 28,935 similar violations have been confirmed and 2,882 people have been arrested.

Finally, 3 violations were confirmed for non-completion of the PLF (PassengerLocatorForm) electronic form by a traveler. Since the entry into force of the new measures (November 7, 2020), a total of 559 similar violations have been confirmed.
