The platform for program applications is in operation “Moving Electric 2” of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, where the purchase of vehicles, two-wheelers and the purchase of smart chargers are subsidized.

The program started in mid-2022 and those interested can apply on the respective platform until December 31, 2023.

Those who are entitled to tax exemptions for the purchase of electric vehicles and chargers based on Law 4710/2020, can submit their applications and supporting documents to two services of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, in the context of the implementation of the provisions of the KYA concerning the procedure and conditions for granting aid for the purchase of electric vehicles and chargers.

Who is eligible for the subsidy?

Beneficiaries of the new program are natural persons, businesses and families with at least 3 dependent children, the disabled or young people up to 29 years of age, with an additional subsidy.

Those interested should register for the service, select the vehicle category, model and value. At the same time, they are asked to choose whether they wish to receive a smart charger and whether they wish to retire an older vehicle.

It is clarified that through “Move Electric II” the purchase of only electricity is subsidized and not plug-in hybrid vehicles, and that applications for purchases made from December 1, 2021 onwards are also eligible.

It is noted that each natural person can submit an application for a vehicle, while each a company can submit up to two applications no limit on the number of vehicles.

The rates of the subsidy and how to apply

  • 30% subsidy for the purchase of an electric car with a maximum amount of 8,000 euros.
  • 30% subsidy and up to 8,000 euros for long-term leases, with no obligation to buy.
  • €1,000 withdrawal bonus and €500 smart charger purchase subsidy.
  • Additional subsidy of 1000 euros for the purchase of a car for a disabled person.
  • Additional subsidy of 1000 euros for families with at least 3 dependent children (1000 euros for 3 dependent children, and an additional 1000 euros per additional dependent child up to 4000 euros).
  • An additional 1000 euros for the purchase of a car and minicar for young people up to 29 years of age.
  • Possibility of assigning the right to collect a subsidy to the selling company.
  • Subsidy up to 40% and with a maximum amount of 3,000 for the purchase of two-wheelers and three-wheelers of category L5e to L7e (professional electric three-wheelers and minicars).
  • Subsidy of electric two-wheelers category L1e to L4e up to 30% and with a maximum subsidy amount of 1300 euros.
  • 40% subsidy for electric bikes, with a maximum subsidy amount of 800 euros.

Submission of supporting documents

Beneficiaries can submit their applications and supporting documents to the two services of the Ministry of the Environment and Energy, the Autonomous Department of Electric Mobility and the Staff Structure of the NSRF – Energy Sector, in the context of the implementation of the provisions of the General Regulations concerning the procedure and conditions for the granting of aid for purchase of electric vehicles and chargers.

It is recalled that the objective of the ongoing program is to achieve the renewal of the existing vehicle fleet, the development of smart charging infrastructures, the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions and savings in the pockets of citizens who will choose electric vehicles.
