This is a company whose tax behavior the auditors have been monitoring, through the special software, for many months
Yet another trick used by fraudsters to hide turnover and profits so they pay far less tax than they should, auditors from the Inland Revenue Authority have discovered.
It is about for the receipt cancellation trick, that have been issued.
That is, after issuing a receipt and properly collecting the amount from the customer, they then proceed to cancel the particular item. Thus, the receipt appears canceled in their system – therefore also in what they declare to the Tax Office – but… the money have entered the company’s treasurytogether with VAT which is never paid.
The auditors found such a case in a well-known bar restaurant, in the center of Glyfada.
This is a company whose tax behavior has been monitored, through special software, for many months. So when they went to the store for an on-site inspection, they found excel files with the receipts, compared them with the declared amounts and found the following discrepancies:
In total, non-issuance of 106 tax recordsofworth 600,000 euros, plus VAT 78,000 euros.
For example, in 2020, there were so many cancellations that the audit counted only in one case, non-issuance of receipts, with a total value of 72,000 euros, plus VAT of 9,360 euros.
The same practice was followed by the company in 2021 as well, when the auditors calculated non-issuance of 258,000 euros, plus VAT of 33,540 euros. In addition, in the same year, it was found that 53 receipts and invoices, worth 10,000 euros, plus VAT of 1,300 euros, had not been issued.
As for last year, the business proved to be consistent in its… practice. Thus, in 2022 she proceeded with a number of cancellations, as a result of which she was charged a non-issue of 250,000 euros, plus VAT of 32,500 euros. Regarding the non-issuance of information, it was found that he had not cut 50 receipts, worth 8,000 euros, plus VAT of 1,040 euros.
The fines, which have already been imposedexceed 40,000 euroswhile the audit of the company’s books continues, in order to establish the full extent of tax evasion and to calculate the total amount of the fine, which corresponds to the total of the undeclared turnover and the undeclared VAT.
