Preliminary examination was ordered by the Volos Prosecutor’s Office for the fatal traffic accident in the Regional with the victim, a 50-year-old father of two children.

The case file handed over to the prosecution had major deficiencies as not even his result had been included in it breathalyzer to which the 33-year-old driver who killed the 50-year-old by ramming his car was submitted.

According to information, the result of the breathalyzer test shows that the 33-year-old driver – who crashed into the motorcycle driven by the 50-year-old while they were both moving in the same traffic stream – had consumed alcohol well over the limit and once the result is delivered in writing he is expected to be prosecuted for a felony.

Yesterday the 33-year-old remained silent in front of an investigator and prosecutor. He didn’t say a word, apparently on the advice of his lawyer.

Immediately after his formal appearance, he was released and a preliminary injunction was ordered to investigate commission of an accident while under the influence of intoxication resulting in death and negligent homicide.

Forensic and toxicology tests will be included in the file.

The funeral of the 50-year-old will be held today, Thursday, April 20 at 6 pm at the Holy Church of Agios Ioannis Damascenes and Agia Varvara.
