SYMPLESIS AMKE (+sailing) announces the realization of its 9th Diaplo on eight small and isolated islands of the country, from Thursday, April 27 to Sunday, May 7, 2023, with the aim of improving the living conditions of the inhabitants of the Greek islands.
Over 80 volunteers, the majority of whom are health professionals, will visit, with dedication and willingness to give, the following islands with 12 inflatable boats: Sikinos, Donousa, Arkioi, Lipsi, Agathonisi, Thymaina, Fourni and Ikaria.
The start and end of Diaplo will be the facilities of Olympic Marine in Lavrio, in a total route of approximately 375 nautical miles, with the significant assistance of EKO (HELLENiQ ENERGY Group company).
The primary objective of the mission, which has been licensed by the 2nd DYPE, is to offer free specialized medical examinations and related health services in over 20 specialties and fields, such as the following:

● General Medicine
● General Surgery
● Gynecology (Pap test)
● Dermatology – Aesthetics
● Nutrition

● Orthopedics (bone density measurement) – Physiotherapy
● Ophthalmology – Pediatric ophthalmology

● Pediatrics
● Psychiatry – Psychology
● ENT – Audiology
The bone density measurement is done in collaboration with the National Intermunicipal Network of Healthy Cities – Health Promotion (EDDYPPY), while we collaborate with the Vision of Hope Association to create and strengthen the bank of volunteer bone marrow donors.
Also, the Voluntary Action of Veterinarians of Greece (E.D.K.E.) participates in our mission, so that its volunteers offer veterinary assistance, treatment and sterilization to stray and domestic animals of the islands. The aim of the partnership is to offer holistic health care to the Greek acropolis islands.
With the support of IASO General Clinic and Biotrans, it is possible to safely take blood samples from the donors and transport them, so that they can be analyzed in certified laboratories. At the same time, hearing tests and the offer of hearing aids will be carried out with the support of the Stamos Hearing Aids company, while the ophthalmological test and the offer of vision glasses are supported by the Vairamoglou SA company.
+floating utilizes all of the sponsorships it attracts in projects of public benefit and improving health services on the islands, with its volunteers covering all the expenses related to themselves and the operation of the group themselves. In this context, the following infrastructure projects will be launched, implemented thanks to the contribution of donors, with the aim of upgrading the living standards of the residents and serving residents and visitors:
● Paving of the forecourt area and construction of a multi-court at the Fourni Primary School (Stoiximan-Mikroi Heroes)
● Installation of photovoltaic lights in the settlement of Donoussa (PYLETECH GROUP)
● Support and equipment of common areas in Agathonisi (Davos Boston Family)
● Installation of a shelter for the Donoussa ambulance (ELPEN)
● Replacement of frames of the Donoussa rural clinic (YESTAY)
● Frame replacement Thymaina Primary School (XCLUSIV SHIPBROKERS)
● Replacement of floodlights at the Lipsi football stadium with LED floodlights (CAUCASUS)
● Donation of portable blood sample analyzer (Biotrans)
● Provision of medical technology equipment to the regional clinics
In addition, +sailing has proceeded to donate educational and technological equipment and consumables, in order to strengthen the educational infrastructures of 32 schools and improve the learning conditions for 445 children on 8 islands. ALPHA BANK, Plaisio, Avgouleas Linardatou Schools, Coca-Cola HBC, LIFELINE HELLAS, Pharmacy295, IKEA, Just Toys, Enarxis Dynamic Media, Library4all, Desyllas Games supported this effort this year.
At the same time, we have planned information, culture and entertainment activities for children and adults, in a wide range of interests and objects.
Specifically, there will be speeches on the demographics and support of subfertility by HOPE GENESIS, on cancer prevention and diagnosis and the optimistic messages of technology, on the nutrition of pregnant women, infants and young children, but also on loneliness and its treatment in the Third Age. The Prolepsis Institute is also traveling with us to inform about the program “Friendship at every age” which is about combating the loneliness of the elderly. Also, the Sexual Education workshops for teenagers and adults will continue, under the auspices of the Hellenic Society of Adolescent Medicine, and robotics workshops in collaboration with MIT Kids, which will be implemented online during the year, while an interactive fairy tale about safe touch will take place. Finally, there will be an environmental awareness program and beach cleanings with the expertise of We4all.
