Students and teachers are returning to schools today with more tests against COVID-19.
An additional self-test is provided for the first week of school operation, ie three self-tests will be performed this week instead of two.
Also, the two weekly self tests will now be performed by both vaccinated students and vaccinated teachers.
In the event of an incident in the classroom, the whole department will be screened, and not just the students sitting close to the case, as has been the case so far. All unvaccinated students will have a free test every day for 5 days. Specifically, they will do two rapid and one self test in five days, in addition to the two constant self tests per week, so 5 tests in 5 days. The vaccinated students will do a total of 3 free self tests on those days.
As for the teachers, the unvaccinated will also do 5 tests in 5 days: two rapid and a self test, in addition to the two rapid tests that they already do per week in case of a case. The vaccinated teachers will do 3 self tests for free per week.
It is recalled that unvaccinated students or teachers who have become ill during the last trimester have the same status as vaccinated students or teachers respectively.
The obligatory use of a mask indoors and outdoors, the different breaks for groups of students, the suspension of excursions, are still valid.
Also, 50% + 1 continues to apply for the suspension of department operation in case of an accident.
According to the Ministry of Education, those students and teachers who failed to obtain a self test can take them in the morning from school.
In particular, school principals are instructed to be in schools from 07.00 to ensure self-tests for students and teachers, who may not have been provided.
The parents will take the test, do it to their child -out of school- and then the child will enter the school, if the test is negative.
Work stoppage and protest rally by OLME
OLME has announced a work stoppage from 12.00 to 14.00, and a rally at one and a half in the afternoon, outside the Ministry of Education.
In a statement, it characterizes the protocol of 50% + 1 as unscientific and calls for substantial measures to be taken for the safe operation of schools. “The Ministry of Education and Science had not prepared at all for the safe opening of the schools and” could give a small extension of the holidays, as recommended by many experts “, he states in the announcement, among other things.
