After receiving the Greek citizens, he will depart again and is expected to arrive in our country on Tuesday morning
The C-27 transport aircraft that took off this afternoon from Aswan airport in Egypt to bring Greek nationals back to our country landed in Djibouti shortly before 22:00.
After receiving the Greek citizens, it will depart again and is expected to arrive in our country on Tuesday morning with a stop in Egypt for refueling.
The operation to free the Greeks from Sudan continues and so far 28 Greeks and members of their families have been removed with the help of Italy and France who have since arrived in Djibouti. However, there are still around 70 to 100 Greeks stranded in Sudan who are appealing for help. More than 1,000 foreign nationals have been flown out of Sudan from dozens of countries on flights organized by eight countries.
Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias had a conversation earlier today with Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Soukry with the aim of “further coordinating efforts to provide assistance to the Greeks in Sudan and for their release from the country.”
