The case of the stabbing death of a 59-year-old father of seven by his 35-year-old partner, in October 2019, near the Homeless Center in Heraklion, is being heard in second degree today by the Mixed Jury Court of Appeal of Eastern Crete.

In the first instance, the woman was sentenced to 14 years in prison for the act of manslaughter under the circumstances of the reduced charge.

During the hearing today, the victim’s sister was called to testify who, along with her own two children, also raises a child of her brother whom she has adopted as well as two more of his children, to whom she is a foster carer, with these procedures however having started while her brother was still alive. That’s because the 59-year-old’s 35-year-old partner allegedly had erratic behavior as a result of substance abuse, disappearing for long periods of time, and the 59-year-old was working hard to raise his children.

In front of the Court, the sister of the victim spoke with dignity about her brother’s relationship with the 35-year-old, saying that at first they got along well. “My brother loved her very much, until the end, despite the differences and arguments they had,” the woman said of the 35-year-old mother of five.
