So far thousands of them e-mails have gone out to Netflix subscribers with most of them suspecting from the beginning that it is a scam and others, mainly older people, having fallen victim.

Similar activity can also be followed via SMS on the subscriber’s mobile phone, which even states that this message is also the “last warning” before they are imposed Netflix account restrictions.

What the company indicates in order to protect an account:

  • We will never ask you to provide personal information in a text message or email. These include the following:

  3. Netflix passwords
  • We will never ask you for payment through a 3rd party vendor or website.
  • If the text message or email links to a URL you don’t recognize, don’t tap or click on it. If you tapped or clicked, don’t enter anything on the website that opened.

People trying to scam you can’t get any information about you unless you give it to them. So don’t click on links from messages and don’t reply.
