One Greek Cypriot, nine Romanians and eight Finns also traveled with the C-27
The repatriation of Greek citizens to Greece continues. At 16:00, a C-27J Spartan transport aircraft of the Air Force landed at Tanagra Air Base, carrying 16 Greeks, one Greek Cypriot, 9 Romanians and 8 Finnish citizens, freed from Sudan, including several children.
The C-27J departed Aswan, Egypt yesterday at 17:10 local time for Djibouti, where it picked up the Romanian and Finnish citizens. Returned to Aswan today at 04:30 local time for refueling. At 06:30 he took off for Aqaba, Jordan, from where he picked up the 16 Greeks and one Cypriot national. It took off at 09:00 local time with final destination Tanagra Air Base.
The Deputy Minister of National Defense, Mr. Nikolaos Hardalias and head of the mission, participated in the operation and was in constant contact and cooperation with the Operation Center of the Greek Defense Ministry and the Crisis Management Unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The support of the current business from the Ambassadors of Greece in Ethiopia, Ms. Anna Farou, and also in Jordan, Ms. Eleftherias Galathianaki, is extremely important.
