The unemployment rate in Greece stood at 13.4% in November 2021 (from 13.3% in October), compared to 7.2% in the eurozone and 6.5% in the EU, according to Eurostat data released today in publicity.
The unemployment rate in the euro area fell to 7.2%, from 7.3% in October and 8.1% in November 2020. In the EU, unemployment fell to 6.5%, from 6.7% in October and 7, 4% in November 2020.
Eurostat estimates that 13.98 million men and women in the EU, of which 11.83 million in the euro area, were unemployed in November 2021. Compared to October 2021, the number of unemployed decreased by 247,000 in the EU and by 222,000 in the euro area.
In terms of youth unemployment (under 25), in November 2021 it stood at 15.5% in the euro area and 15.4% in the EU. The highest unemployment rate was recorded in Greece (39.1% in November from 32.8% in October). It is followed by Spain with a youth unemployment rate of 29.2% and Italy with 28%.
In Greece in November 2021, the unemployment rate for men was 9.7% and for women 17.7%. A total of 636 thousand unemployed were registered.
