by

A new number – record in coronavirus cases is expected today Professor of Pulmonology Nikos Tzanakis as he told SKAI and the show “Today” will be incorporated and those of the 15,000 positive self tests confirmed after the opening of schools.

He explained that if 600,000 tests are performed and the positivity index approaches 9 then the cases will be close to 54,000 while if the index is closer to 8, the new infections may be below 50,000.

Regarding the peak of the Omicron pandemic wave, Mr. Tzanakis stressed that the model of his team still estimates that it will peak between January 20 and 25, however if it turns out that the holidays have not shown their full imprint and the schools contribute in dispersion, then possibly delayed.

“Things are not easy,” the professor added, noting that the weekly average of cases is now 35,000 and if this rate continues we will be talking about a total of 700,000 to 800,000 infections by the end of January.

He cited US figures showing a sharp rise in Omicron hospitalizations, with an increase in both intubation and single-unit hospitalization.

Especially for Greece, he said that at the moment there are an average of 590 hospital admissions and at some point they are expected to reach 650.

Mr. Tzanakis was in favor of restoring music to the restaurant, saying that a little low music when eating out will help the psychology of citizens while it has never been proven in the field that when playing music, those who speak and communicate shoot more drops.
