See in which areas the weather is worsening
Low barometric in the Ionian Sea affects the country with rains, storms and strong to stormy southerly winds in Western Greece, according to the National Observatory of Athens/meteo.gr.
Despite the predominance of south winds, the temperature will remain around 3-4°C lower than the normal levels for the season.
In more detail, initially in the pre-noon hours the phenomena will be limited, with local rains in Western Greece and the Peloponnese and local storms in the Ionian.
From the afternoon – and especially in the evening hours today – worsening is predicted of the weather with strong localized storms in the Ionian Islands, Western Greece and the Peloponnese and rainfall in most of Thessaly, Central Greece and Macedonia. In the southernmost areas will also be noted mud showers due to the presence of dust from Africa.
According to the classification of the precipitation episode (RPI), which is implemented by the Meteo unit of the National Observatory of Athens, the precipitation episode is classified as Category 2 (Moderate).
At the same time, the southerly winds in the Ionian Sea will reach 7-8 Beaufort, with a predicted significant wave height of 3-4 meters. And in the Aegean the winds will be strong, mainly from the east, reaching 6 Beaufort.
