With apologies from the 12 defendants, the trial for the brutal fan attack against him continues for the 30th day Alki Kampanou and his friends, in the early hours of February 1, 2022, in the area of Harilaou. The fifth accused, the driver of the second of the three vehicles, with which the 12 involved young men (temporary prisoners) moved to the scene of the murder, is before the Joint Jury Court of Thessaloniki. The 23-year-old admitted that he was at the scene, but denied that he came into physical contact with the victims, especially with the deceased Alki.

“We went for kicks, swearing […] I didn’t take any weapon with me” said the young man at the beginning of his apology. Giving his own perspective on the disputed incident, he stated – among other things – the following: “We arrive at Plastira Street, at the intersection with Gazi. There I noticed the five people (Alkis and his company). The third vehicle passes me, and the front one stops. The passenger of the first car motions for us to wait in the car.”

“I saw blood, I was scared, I froze”

Continuing to describe the incident and as the “fight” had begun, he saw three people from the third vehicle approaching the steps of the apartment building where the crime took place. “After a few seconds we open the door and go to the stairs” said the 23-year-old, adding that at that moment saw 3 to 4 people kicking a person which was lying on the ground (s.s. it was Alkis). “I saw blood, I was scared, I froze. I didn’t expect to see so much blood” noted features.

Summoned by the court to refer to the people he saw on the steps, as well as their movements, the 23-year-old named the 2nd accused “he stabs Alki’s friend” and the 7th defendant “pulling” the same person. He added that he perceived the scythe “like a figure on the steps” without being able to distinguish the person holding it, while from the videos he saw later he recognized the 4th accused at the scene.

Mother Moose: “Say names, who did you see?”

In the successive questions of the court to name the people he saw participating in the episode, the defendant invoked relative weakness due to darkness, provoking the reaction of Alki’s mother who intervened in the process saying: “say names, who did you see?”

The phrase “got fat” that was said in the car during their escape is also attributed to the specific defendant. “When we were going back to the car, I told them that it became “thick”, I saw many people. I was driving and upset. I got home, checked my cell phone to see if anything was uploaded to the internet. In the morning I went to work, opened Facebook and saw a photo from the scene. I lost ground under my feet. I told my brother.”

His apology is ongoing and then the 9th accused, a passenger in the third car, is expected to take the baton. So far, eight of the twelve defendants have been pardoned.
