The two 21-year-olds requested an adjournment from the Autonomous Three-member Misdemeanor Court of Thessaloniki to be tried tomorrow, while the court lifted their detention, despite the prosecutor’s proposal to the contrary.
They are being prosecuted for a total of eight misdemeanors and in particular for arson with possible intent resulting in danger to things (in series), damage to foreign property, violence against police officers, disobedience, verbal abuse, attempted dangerous bodily harm, theft and illegal carrying of weapons ( as the case may be).
Preliminary investigations reported that they were found at the scene doing graffiti, while the fire broke out when they used a blowtorch to complete their work, following what they said was a “new artistic method”. The fire seems to have started in a tarpaulin, with the consequence that it spread to the mobile phone repair shop, which is located on Venizelou Street, and completely destroyed it.
