The body of a 37-year-old Iranian was found in a stream in the afternoon, in the mountainous area of Lagadi, in the Municipality of Visaltia, Serres, according to police sources. At the same time, the search for his 24-year-old wife, whose traces were lost in the same area, remains fruitless.
Authorities were notified, at noon, by the 22-year-old brother of the woman who accompanied the androgyne and called the three-digit emergency number 112, through which the Serres Police Department was informed of their disappearance. Around 4 in the afternoon, and after searches, firefighters located the man dead.
The three migrants, according to a version examined by the authorities, tried to cross a mountain pass in the area to the northern border of the country in order to continue their journey to Central Europe. Due to the bad weather conditions prevailing in the area, they did not calculate the water level correctly and in the attempt to cross the stream, the androgynous man was swept away by the waters.
The search for the missing person has stopped due to darkness and is expected to continue tomorrow with the first light of day.
