The unfortunate large animal was sleeping under an awning when a driver, while parking his vehicle, ran into the dog and dragged it under the wheels of the car.

According to the complaint, an eyewitness who saw the incident yelled at the driver to stop. The two – driver and eyewitness – raised the front of the vehicle and the alleged perpetrator pulled the injured animal out from under the wheels. He then calmly got into his vehicle and drove away, abandoning the dog.

The new incident of abuse and abandonment of a stray animal occurred on the evening of May 4. According to the president of the Thermaikos Volunteer Association “O Sirius”, Maria Markoyannopoulouwho spoke to Voria.gr the dog, which was healthy, is now paralyzed, as confirmed both by a contracted veterinary clinic with the municipality of Thermaikos and by the Companion Animal Clinic of AUTH. Ms. Markoyannopoulou notes that Bruno is large in size, about 40-45 kg, and it’s hard not to see.

For the incident, a lawsuit was filed last Thursday by the president of the Association for the Protection and Environment of Stray Animals of Eastern Thessaloniki (SY.P.P.A.Z.A.TH.), Antonis Zaverkos. According to information, the video is also in the hands of the police investigating the case, looking for the driver who ran over and left Bruno paralyzed.

The unfortunate dog is in a place of special care and rehabilitation, as he can neither return to the streets nor be accommodated in a shelter. In addition, he has a long way to go and needs constant care. A month after his injury, the dog is expected to be in a wheelchair, but the costs of his care are high. “We have a long way to go and what we are primarily interested in is justice for what the dog goes through,” notes the president of the animal welfare association.
