The Deputy Minister of Interior, Mr. Stavros Kalafatis, in charge of Macedonia and Thrace, met today with the Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. George Amyras.
The issue of stable and permanent financing of environmental actions was discussed, such as the cleaning of the Thermaikos Gulf with a special detergent boat and the timely treatment of Fire Safety issues in the forest areas of Macedonia and Thrace and, especially, the suburban forest of Sheikh Sou.
After the meeting, Mr. Kalafatis stated: “There is an end to the begging for resources to solve environmental issues, such as the cleaning of the Thermaic Gulf. The Government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis implements the green policies and, in this context, a permanent fund will be provided, through the Organization of Natural Environment and Climate Change for the cleaning on a regular – and not occasional – basis. In the field of environment, we do not leave our steps in the air. We provide, as in the case of fire protection, for which we will soon be able to announce specific actions. “
