The Italian experts failed to recover data with the special device, with which they tried to extract information from the recorders of the two fatal trains that collided in Tempi, with a tragic death toll of 57.

According to what was stated by Panagiotis Madias, mechanical engineer, electrical engineer and judicial expert, the Italians were asked to use special machines to extract data from the recorder of both trains in order to determine critical factors for the causes of the accident.

“Unfortunately, the 4 Italian experts made three attempts, which did not provide any evidence. I think that the effort stops here” said Mr. Madias, estimating that it is most likely that the recorder’s brain has been damaged.

According to him, the evidence they tried to recover was the speed at which the trains were running from Larissa station to the point of the collision.

“Critical evidence was sought to determine some factors for the investigation of the accident, such as speeds, traffic, the stop of the train from Larissa station to the accident site and the strange ignition,” he concluded.
