The security measures taken by the Municipality, Traffic Police and merchants of Thessaloniki are strict, in order to avoid incidents during tomorrow’s (15/1) mobilization of anti-authoritarians in the city center. “All the bins will be collected,” the Deputy Mayor for Cleaning and Recycling, Costas Iakovou, told GRTimes.
The Municipality of Thessaloniki wants to avoid the possibility of incidents, regarding tomorrow’s nationwide solidarity march in the squatting at 13:00, with Kamara as a gathering point. The garbage bins are already being gradually removed from all the streets of the center, while the Thessaloniki Traffic Police calls on the residents not to park on Kentrikis Aminis Street on Saturday and during the period 06:00 – 23:00, by placing warning ribbons.
As the responsible deputy mayor, Costas Iakovou, states in GRTimes, “already in cooperation with the Hellenic Police and the staff of the municipality we have implemented a plan, according to which from today, all bins from the Universities to the Dodecanese and from the Agiou Dimitriou, up to Nikis Avenue, in order not to give the right to set them on fire and to endanger citizens, shops and cars “.
In addition, crews of the central municipality collect all the building materials, as the deputy mayor states, “we do not want a stone war to be done with them.” Mr. Iakovou, in addition, appeals to residents and freelancers “not to take down their garbage in order to do better the work of the Hellenic Police, but also ours.”
The rubbish bins will gradually return to their places from Sunday night (16/11).

The Services of the General Police Directorate of Thessaloniki (GADTH), in the context of their main mission for the preservation of public order and social peace, will take the necessary police measures in order to prevent the occurrence of illegal actions. or generally antisocial behaviors.
Following the above and in order to prevent any illegal activity, shopkeepers are requested to ensure the safety of their stores, by all appropriate means.
