Free after his plea to the Investigator was left yesterday a 66-year-old man from Larisa, who was arrested by police officers of the Agia Department, as they were found in possession counterfeit bank notes.

The 66-year-old, who is professionally active abroad, these days was in Agia, where he was arrested, when in Super Market of the region wanted to pay for the products he procured using their paper money 200 euros. Banknote which, when checked by the store’s counterfeit detector, proved to be of questionable authenticity.

So he was led to Agia Police Department where he reported to the police that he did not know about the forgery of the confiscated banknote and even emphasized that he has a sum of 4,000 euros in his home made up of various banknotes. In fact, from the investigation carried out at his house, 3,900 euros in various banknotes were found.

Out of control which followed as reported by the newspaper “Eleftheria”, p detector it emerged that four more €200 notes were of doubtful authenticity. The 66-year-old reportedly stated that the total amount of money he had with him was income from his professional activity abroad, a country where the euro is not a national currency, but is used in transactions.

From the Criminal Prosecutor’s OfficeA prosecution was brought against him for the charges of possession and attempted circulation of counterfeit banknotes, while after his apology to the Investigator the 66-year-old man from Larisa was released.
