The intervention of the prosecutor caused the complaints about delayed arrival of the ambulance which had been called to pick up the 19-year-old pregnant woman in the ninth month which died as well as the fetus she was carrying.

After the complaints of her relatives about the delayed arrival of the ambulance, the Athens District Attorney Mr. Antonis Eleftherianos ordered the conduct of a preliminary investigation which will be carried out by the head of the criminal prosecution, prosecutor Angeliki Triantafillou.

In this context, any persons responsible for the management of the incident and the untimely transfer of the girl to the hospital.

Earlier, an urgent Sworn Administrative Examination (SOE) was ordered by the EKAB and the 1st Ministry of Health, in order to investigate the conditions and the observance of the protocols by the Nea Makri Health Center regarding the handling of the incident with the 19-year-old pregnant woman who lost her life.

The relatives attribute the tragic outcome to the delay of EKAB.

According to the president of POEDIN Michalis Giannakos, “EKAV delays in Attica are a daily phenomenon. They operate about 40 ambulances in the morning and afternoon and 25-28 in the evening, due to lack of staff and availability of vehicles. At least twice as many are needed to have an immediate response to all incidents.”

The news of the death of the young woman, who was 9 months pregnant, caused a shock.

The unfortunate girl complained to her husband and relatives on Tuesday morning of severe abdominal pain.

As the couple who lived in Lutsa did not have a car, EKAV was called at 8.30 on Tuesday morning to take her to a hospital.

According to her relatives, the ambulance arrived around 1 in the afternoon and took her to the Nea Makri health center, where the tragic event was discovered, while her baby did not survive either.

According to the SKAI report, her relatives say that the 19-year-old left the house alive.

The Nea Makris health center claims that the girl was already dead when she arrived. The ambulance did pick her up at 13:38 with the rescuers intubating her on the way to the health center but without success.

The exact cause of her death is expected to be clarified.

According to sources from the Ministry of Health, the conditions surrounding the transport of patients, both in Nea Makri and Kos, are being investigated. Responsibilities will be attributed after the completion of the relevant investigation. At the same time, the Ministry of Health is awaiting the findings of the EDE from the 1st Ministry of Health and the EKAV.
