The Traffic Directorate of Attica confirmed 11,713 violations, of which 610 were misdemeanors, during 34,516 general and special traffic checks on vehicle drivers, which were carried out between 20/5 and 6/6/2023.

According to ELAS, the controls were carried out along road axes that show a high frequency of traffic accidents and high delinquency, in the context of targeted actions implemented by the Attica Traffic Directorate to upgrade the level of road safety in the Attica region.

The confirmed violations concern:

– 258 violations for driving under the influence of alcohol, of which 29 were misdemeanors

-1,062 speed limit violations

-864 violations for not wearing a protective helmet

-98 violations for red light violation

-522 violations for not using a seat belt

-864 violations for mobile phone use

-159 violations for uninsured vehicles

-14 violations for dangerous maneuvers

-7,872 other traffic violations

In addition, 1,505 pairs of license plates, 1,776 driving licenses and 1,821 driving licenses were removed, while 832 vehicles were immobilized, of which 288 were transported by crane.

With reference to the control and application of more specific legislation concerning professional vehicle drivers (taxi – buses – trucks – rented ICHEs with a driver [βαν]), were identified and confirmed:

-1,944 violations of working hours tachographs (for trucks, buses)

-126 violations of truck legislation

-43 violations of special provisions concerning the legality of taxi traffic and driving, compliance with tax provisions and traffic legislation

-4 violations of illegal execution of international passenger transport (buses)

-21 violations of leased ICHE cars with a driver (van).

As pointed out in the relevant announcement, the actions of the Attica Traffic Directorate will continue systematically and intensively throughout the summer period.
