The Secretariat of Social Solidarity and Human Rights of the ND, headed by Maria Natsiou, accompanied by the former Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports, Nikolas Giatromanolakis, the former economic adviser to the Prime Minister Alexis Patelis, the Coordinator of the Diagram Dimitris Papagelopoulos, the Secretary of Quality of Life & Volunteering Pistis Krystallidou and officials of the party’s Secretariats, visited the stands in Kotzia Square as part of Athens Pride 2023.
Among other things, the delegation visited the stand of the Commission for the National Strategy for the Equality of LGBTI+, which was established by the decision of Kyriakos Mitsotakis in 2020, where they discussed the steps that have been taken in recent years in Greece in relation to LGBTI+ rights, thanks to which, according to a report by ILGA-Europe – according to the Social Solidarity Secretariat of the ND – Greece is now in 13th place out of a total of 49 countries, in terms of legal protection and the implementation of policies in favor of LGBTI+ citizens, higher in the ranking than countries such as Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Ireland.
In addition, the group visited the booths of LGBTI+ institutions and organizations, discussed with the public and participated in the parade that followed.
