Thessaloniki: They kidnapped a 28-year-old man and demanded a ransom of 40,000 euros for his release

The immediate and coordinated actions of police officers of the Crimes against Life and Personal Freedom Department of the Thessaloniki Security Directorate, led to the immediate arrest of a 69-year-old citizen, as well as the identification of twelve more accomplices, who are also involved in a kidnapping case and are wanted.

These are nationals aged 22 to 44, against whom a case was filed for the offenses of kidnapping, attempted criminal extortion, robbery in conspiracy, illegal possession of weapons and the use of dangerous bodily injuries in conspiracy.

In particular, on Saturday, a complaint was made by a 27-year-old local woman, according to which at noon of the previous day, in the area of ​​Lachanagora, seven people riding in two vehicles stopped the course of their vehicle and boarded with the threat of shotguns and the use of force. the 28-year-old in their vehicle, while they removed from her own bag, which contained a sum of money, jewelry and a mobile phone.

Then, on Friday night, the perpetrators contacted a relative of the 28-year-old by phone and, threatening his life, demanded the amount of money (40,000) euros for his release.

There was an immediate mobilization of police officers of the Department of Crimes against Life and Personal Freedom of the Thessaloniki Security Directorate and in the framework of an organized police operation that took place on Saturday night, with the assistance of police officers of the Crime Prevention and Suppression Department and the Thessaloniki Police Directorate. and the 28-year-old was released, while the 69-year-old native was arrested on the spot.

The arrested person with the case file against him will be taken to the competent Prosecutor.
