Crete: Infant 20 days old with coronavirus at Chania Hospital

The reason for a 20-day-old baby who fell ill with the virus and is now being treated in the Neonatal Unit of the General Hospital of Chania with doctors closely monitoring him.

As the Commander of the Hospital, George Beas, told ekriti, the child could not be treated in Pediatrics due to his age, so he was transferred to the Neonatal Unit.

The baby was transported to Chania last night from Rethymno as he needed further medical care.

Today, according to Mr. Bea, 71 patients are being treated at the Chania Clinic and 8 at the ICU, of which six are intubated. Also, four children are being treated at the Pediatric Clinic. In the previous hours, a new death of an elderly patient was recorded in the clinical ward of GNX.

At the Venizelio Hospital, according to the Commander Costas Terzakis, a total of 33 patients are being treated, of which nine in the ICU with 7 being intubated.
